The Daily Practice of Gratitude
You can’t hear it enough, Gratitude is one of the pathways to peace. And in a world that is cluttered with negativity, frustration, and stress, in other words, a world that is just plain angry, gratitude is a skill worth cultivating.
Practicing thankfulness for the good things in life is important to our living a happy life. Being grateful stems from acceptance and contentment of the blessings and the good things in our lives, things like family, friends, provisions, and life.
Gratitude brings our attention to the good that’s all around us and motivates us to do more of it. And believe it or not, gratitude is contagious!
Gratitude for the things we escape
When it comes to Gratitude, it’s not something that comes naturally. Watch a baby, it’s all about self-gratification. But Gratitude is something taught and is typically taught to us by our parents or grandparents. Gratitude is something that we should and could learn. Practicing the art of Gratitude leads to more positive attitudes and it’ll provide guidelines for setting boundaries within your life.
Let me leave you with a few ideas on how you can make incorporating more gratitude in your life work for you, and also what that looks like!
Let’s start with two ways you can express your feelings of gratitude:
Acts Of Gratitude
Demonstrating Acts of gratitude allows others to feel acknowledged, cared for, and understood. Every day we have somehow been taken care of by service providers, workers in the stores, servers in restaurants, and hotel housekeeping staff just to name a few. Our extending gratitude towards their effort and care is a way to let them know they are seen and appreciated.
But our acts of gratitude must also extend to ourselves. We must also learn to recognize our efforts and the care and dedication that goes along with it
Words Of Gratitude
And that leads me to words of gratitude. Words hold a powerful ability to transform our perspective and the way we deal with life’s challenges. Gratitude helps us bring it into the right focus.
Words of appreciation and gratitude are an integral part of how we communicate not only to others but to ourselves as well.
When we approach our lives and our current circumstances with a different perspective, a healthier perspective, by focusing on being grateful for the things we do have and remembering the blessings that we have received, we begin to sit in a place of wellbeing. And that’s the place we want to live.
